I was 4 days away from signing the paperwork on a $20,000 toy hauler (very little compared to some but a lot of money to me). After reading the reviews I was having second thoughts.

I called the dealer and asked about the customerโ€™s responsibility to check the caulk EVERY 90 days. I was informed this was accurate. I never heard of such a policy. This only tells me that Heartland RV doesn't trust their manufacturing and quality.

This is their way to blame the customer for their poor craftsmanship. It also tells me everything in this web site about Heartland RV is precise. My heart goes out to all of you who spent their hard earned money only to have such torment. I will NOT be purchasing any Heartland RV products.

Thank you for saving me a lot of money and misery. Good luck to all of you.

Reason of review: Read reviews before purchasing.

Take it camping ASAP and test everything. I would also recommend getting on the roof to check their caulk job.

Look at the slide if equipped, Iโ€™ve read a lot of complaints about that also.

Hopefully you will have many good years of camping ahead. Welcome to the camping community

I'm having problems with heartland also. The seam where the front cap and roof join peeled up and allowed about a gallon of water in and damaged my wall and side compartment and they said it was my fault that I supposed to check the roof every 90 days.

It's in the shop now been there from Jan to May took 5 months to get a front door and a LP hose because they sent the wrong door and LP hose. After living in it on the road for a few months I could tell cheap parts.

The more I research RVโ€™s the more I believe the WHOLE industry needs an overhaul. What I have found using the comparison tool on this site:KZRV/ Shasta / Venture 0 Reviews; Airstream 1; Dutchmen 74; Thor motor coach / Crossroads 88; Fleetwood 160; Winnebago 201; Jayco 223; Heartland 307; Keystone 759; Forest River 1068I understand the quantity of produced units affects the number of complaints.Thor Industries subsidiaries are Airstream, Keystone (to include Coleman/Dutchmen), Jayco and Heartland.

Besides Airstream these companies seem to be high hitters in the complaint count. Forest River has the most (This surprised me)I did find this information about Dutchmen using an on-line ownerโ€™s manual. Sounds like they will stand behind their product4. If two (2) unsuccessful repair attempts have been made by the servicing dealer to correct any covered defect(s) that you believe substantially impairs the value, use or safety of your recreational vehicle, or repairs to any covered defect(s), which you believe substantially impairs the value, use or safety or your recreational vehicle have take twenty (20) or more days to complete, you must, to the extent permitted by law, notify Dutchmen directly in writing of the failure to successfully repair the defect(s) so that Dutchmen can become directlyinvolved for the purpose of performing a final successful repair to the identified defect(s).WindowsThe seals/sealants used to seal the windows to the sidewall of the unit are subject to deterioration over time.

Every six months, inspect the area between the window frame and the side wall for sealant gaps/voids, cracks, shrinkage, etc. and reseal as necessary. If caught early, it may save you much time, frustration and money.Corner MoldingsEvery six months, inspect these areas for sealant gaps/voids, cracks, shrinkage, etc. and reseal as necessary.

Please consult your local Dutchmen dealer for assistance if needed.Alpha Superflex TPO RoofThe TPO roof will not rust or corrode and is very strong and durable. Other than periodic washing, the rubber roof material itself does not require maintenance or coatings. However, be advised that any attachment, seams or joints in the rubber roof requires maintenance often! Alpha products must be used on a unit with the Alpha system.

These items can be obtained from your dealership.I wish you luck in your attempt to get your RV repaired. Keep us posted.

The purpose of this forum is not to insult people. It is intended to be another method for customers to reach out to manufacture or service companies to resolve their problems.

The authors are real people with real complaints and issues. Stop and think how upset the customer is to spend their time to write a complaint / review. I understand no product is perfect and issues will arise. I can guarantee if a customer took their RV to a dealer, the manufacture quickly approved the repairs, the repairs were performed correctly and in a timely manner NO ONE would write a negative review.

My first post (review) was to let the 300+ authors know their valuable time was not in vain. People are listening and using their reviews to help with the decision making process. More importantly, I wanted to let Heartland RV know that the company lost a potential customer and should review their customer support and warranty policy. In the future, keep your insults to yourself.

Frank, if you would like to insult me face to face my name is Gary R Butchko and you have my number. Give me a call and that can be arranged.

If it only says "check" than its simply called being responsible for your investment. I mean if you're that lazy then that's all on you.

The fact that you store it for 6 months pretty much tells everyone that you most likely don't do a thing to maintain it.

I bet you're the kind of *** that doesn't do any pre-checks before a trip either. I bet when you take it out of storage after 6 months and experience an issue on a trip you will be the first to blame the manufacture instead of being a grown up and owning up to your lack of intelligence.

Oh I get it โ€œFrankโ€. I will let the 300+ people on this forum know itโ€™s the earthquakes that cause their problems and not the quality of the product.

Do the earthquakes affect the unit when it is stored from October to March?? That must be the reason there are so many water damage, a/c, appliances, electrical issues/complaints and the one gentlemenโ€™s bike tire going through the floor. Yes it is the earthquakes not quality. That is the reason the one I looked at had an awning that leaked, caulk was slapped on the entrance door and heat that goes through a foam channelโ€ฆ.Earthquakes.

Not sure how the earthquakes affect customer support or getting the rig repaired in a timely manner but Iโ€™m sure that is the customer fault too! On a side note the Venture RV I did purchase recommends you check the seals and caulk twice a year.

It performed flawlessly on the first trip out. I must have driven on smooth roads (in Michigan) with no earthquakes.

Checking caulking and seals is not a Heartland issue really, is all manufacturers. Every time you drive down the road is like having a house while 1000 earthquakes got it.
