Heartland Rvs - Heartland won't warranty design flaws, terrible customer service
We purchased a new Heartland North Trail 28BRS in 2015 that we've absolutely loved. We've pulled it around a total of 3,000 miles and camped in it around 50 nights.
Recently, upon returning from a trip in Michigan, I noticed a decrease in fuel economy - then when I happened to be turning, I saw that the roof had developed a bubble! DANG IT! After getting home I looked at it and saw that there wasn't *** but the TPO lap sealant was cracked - thought that the sealant being cracked was a tad wierd as it is pliable when above 50ยฐ. I applied some more lap sealant to the area.
After sitting overnight, I went to park it in the lot we keep it in and noticed there was still a bubble when in transit. I called our dealer to get it in for a warranty repair since the roof is warrantied for 10 years. A few weeks later we get a call stating that the joining strip between the front cap and the roof is too small and as a result, is allowing the roofing material to slowly pull loose when going down the road! The dealer, who is a top 10 dealer in the nation, stated that it was a designed defect.
The dealer stated that they tried to get Heartland to cover the cost but were denied (total cost ~$500). We called Heartland Customer Service to see why it wasn't covered. They stated that it wasn't a design defect and that we should read our owners manual - the manual states to reseal every 90 days. As a person that has RVed since I was 6, I've never known ANYONE to reseal/culk after 90 days.
***, there are people that wait 5+ years to do this!
As far as I'm concerned, this will be our last Heartland. Beware if looking to purchase one!
Reason of review: Bad quality.
Monetary Loss: $500.
Preferred solution: We want an apology and the cost of the defect repair to be covered..
